Buying gold from The Yard Mint

Our gold range covers the full spectrum: cast and minted bars from PAMP Suisse and Geiger, sovereign bullion coins including Britannias, Sovereigns, Krugerrands and Pandas, 24k Aurum gold notes, and limited-mintage collectible releases.

A 1 oz Britannia is the same coin wherever you buy it. What differs is pricing, service, and who stands behind the order. We're a family business, we price transparently, and if you find the same product cheaper elsewhere we'll do our best to match it.

If you're buying for the metal, gold bars carry the lowest premium over spot. If you want liquidity and instant recognition, gold coins are hard to beat. For smaller budgets and gifting, gold notes start under £20 — and if you'd rather not store metal at home, vaulted gold is held under bailment in your name.

What is the best form of gold to buy?

It depends on your purpose. Bars carry the lowest premium over the spot price and suit buyers focused on metal content. Sovereign coins such as Britannias and Sovereigns are more liquid and instantly recognisable, and are UK legal tender. Gold notes suit smaller budgets and gifting, starting under £20.

Is gold VAT-free in the UK?

Investment gold that meets HMRC's criteria for purity and form is exempt from VAT in the UK. Non-investment gold items may attract VAT. We'd recommend confirming the treatment of a specific item with us, or with your own adviser, before purchase.

How quickly do you dispatch?

All in-stock orders are dispatched within 24 hours of cleared payment, fully insured, via Royal Mail Special Delivery, FedEx or DHL. You'll receive tracking updates throughout.

Do you buy gold back?

Yes. We operate a buyback programme on most items we sell, at competitive rates. Get in touch for a current quote.

Can I store my gold in your vault?

Yes. Our vaulting service holds gold securely off-site, fully insured and under bailment — your metal and your title throughout, held separately from our own balance sheet. You can withdraw for physical delivery or sell back at any time.
