There is no Texas state series. There is one Texas note, and this is it — a single-issue regional Goldback for the Dallas Fort Worth area, sponsored by Texas Precious Metals and powered by Goldback, with a published mintage of 352,000.

What makes it different

Every other Goldback release on this site belongs to a set. Utah, Nevada, Florida, Idaho, Arizona and Oklahoma all run through a ladder of denominations, and collecting them means working up that ladder. Dallas Fort Worth does not work that way. There is no Dallas 5, no Dallas 10, no Dallas 50. The release is one note at the 1 denomination.

Goldback has been explicit that this does not replace a future full Texas series — it gives Texans a Goldback now, ahead of one. That is what gives the note its collector story: it is an early regional issue that sits outside the normal release pattern.

The design draws on the imagery of the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex and the wider cultural identity of the American West, rendered in 24-carat gold foil in the same format as the rest of the range.

Who this note suits

This is the easiest Goldback to buy if you do not want a project. One note, one denomination, one story, and nothing else to chase. That makes it a clean gift and a straightforward introduction for someone who has never seen a Goldback.

It also suits collectors who already own the standard state series and want the outliers — Dallas Fort Worth and Washington D.C. are the two releases that break the pattern.

Two honest caveats. First, the gold content is identical to any other 1 Goldback: 1/1000 of a troy ounce. It does not contain more gold than a 1 Idaho or a 1 Florida, so any price difference is collector-led, not metal-led. Second, a mintage of 352,000 is finite but it is not small. Treat it as a defined supply rather than a rarity, and do not buy on the assumption that a future Texas series will make this one appreciate. It might make it more interesting. It guarantees nothing.

They also do not share the Capital Gains Tax exemption that applies to Britannias and post-1837 Sovereigns, which are sterling currency. VAT and CGT are separate questions with different answers.

Resale depends on the gold price, the condition of the note and buyer demand at the time. A collector premium is not guaranteed.
