The 2013 Silver Panda is the first in the series to feature a trio of giant pandas — the reverse, exclusive to this year, shows three pandas drinking by a bamboo-surrounded pool. It is also one of the final coins in the series to adhere to the troy ounce system, as the programme soon adopted the metric standard. With a mintage of 8,000,000 BU standard editions, it is accessible yet historically significant.
The Chinese Silver Panda series launched in 1983 and is one of the world's most collected bullion coin programmes, celebrated for its annually changing reverse designs. Each coin is struck in .999 fine silver and issued as legal tender by the People's Republic of China.
